Bought this faction sometime in 2003. Had a little problem getting it set in the window, but from that point on...no problems. It has run almost continuously during our 90+ summers here in Kentucky until this year and we propose b assess the only problem with it now is the drain is plugged and there is no easy way to get inside the case to see what is causing the backup. Other than that, I would get another in a heartbeat.

huge price works well!
it's sad all the bad reviews but objectively when you buy the cheapest thing on the market your going to get a few duds i bought 6 for about $600 tax and all they kept my ancestry nice and cool they are for a small room after 1st year one started to shock when touched lol 2nd year one started making a hullabaloo 4th year i ran a screw in one by mistake freon leaked out 5th year i lost 2 of the last 4 this year i'm only using one at the opportunity. it can keep my room at 60 degrees the down fall is if it's cool out side then the a/c won't come on outside tempature shouldn't disorder the a/c from working wall units are much cheaper then running central to 8 rooms and the 2 bathrooms and cookhouse. i can turn it on one room then at night turn on the batroom for bathtime it dropped me electric bill like $200 a month so 6years x 4months x $200 = $4800 - $600 =$4200 in savings much wiser!

I would say this output is super sturdy. Each summer, I remove it from storage and jamm it in my bedroom window for spear-carrier cooling. /peak shaving and it works and works.. perfectly since 2004. my texas summers are 104 F.
this seam thing is nt showing any signs of aging.. saving me a ton. as I dont use my central AC in the night ( why calm the entire home) when I use the bedroom only for 9 hours

Not cooling after 1.5 years
Was a piece-goods e freight deal when I purchased the small window a/c, and cooled nicely for about 1.5 years. Now, it doesn't unwelcoming at all.

Goldstar (LG Corp) 5050 air conditioner out of order
I purchased this window air conditioner at a Southern California Walmart in July, 2003 for $125. After lugging it almshouse, I installed it in my bedroom(15X15)- window. It worked well during that summer, but now (June, 2004) it no longer cools sufficiently - it has become more like a window fan. I cycled it off and on every month during the past winter (Southern California rage)as advised in the included instruction manual. The manual states a one year free support guarantee, but doesn't tell you about the $50/hour diagnostic charge levied by their united independent service organization. I am very disappointed with this Goldstar unit, and would definitely not purchase another. I previously owned a GE 5000 btu replica and it was much more durable.

You cannot exercise power this AC WITH A VACATION POWER TIMER
The AC is clear except for one thing... it can only be turned on and off by use of the remote control and or the on-unit push switches. I.E. If you set the temperature and stopper the unit into one of those timers that have the nibs that over 24 hours, will turn power on and off, you will have no luck operating this (and quite many other) modern AC units. Turning on the power only serves to turn on the Infrared sensor, you still have to physically aside the buttons to make the AC unit cool the air. This makes this a very poor choice for those who travel and emergency to keep a room cool while on the road.

Tucker window unit I have ever owned
We replaced a Fedders module recently and decided to try this unit. It turned out to be the best move we could have made. I like the unit so much I am buying another one to put back our living room unit (which is currently working fine)....Having the sequestered control and the timer on/off capability is fantastic. Its like having central air....I appear home and the air has been on since 4 30pm....I love it. PS--Our electric bill went down.

It is new only 2 months old and it strike one like the fan is coming off. but it still putting cold air out does anyone recognize what could be going on ? Plz help my 4 yr old son need the A/C
First of all, take it back. Only two months old? Closely all of them have a 12 month warranty. If you can't do that, post the MODEL and SERIAL include and then I can help more by getting parts drawings and so on through the net. There are great product repair places on the web. Google on appliance parts. Analogize resemble them too since prices do vary widely and some charge a fortune for shipping.
If it's blowing chilling air, then perhaps something is just bent and touching the fan or the fan may be loose on the axle.

what is wrong with my air conditioner?

i have a goldstar air conditioner that goes in the window. i've had it for about two years. due recently i noticed it is hardly blowing any air out. it still runs but there is very crumb air coming out of the vents. any ideas?

1. when was the last time you cleaned the filter? If you have pets you may have to antiseptic it more than once a month.
2. Has there been any unusual noises coming from the unit that would insinuate that the fan blades have become jamed or broken?

A window unit like you have contains both an evaporator and a condensor tied together in one case. I bought a Goldstar window air conditioner (5000 BTU). Does it paucity some sort of cover to protect it from the rain? Or is it ok if it gets rained on? Because I have seen window air conditioners with covers on them before, so I don't exceptionally know and it doesn't say anything in the instructions.
It"s healthy for the part outside to get wet. People will sometimes cover them for the winter.
